Card (Birthday) - Orange stripe shirt origami?

I can't remember how it started that I promised this guy friend of mine that I would make him a bday card. Apparently he remembered, so this was what he told me.......

" We were talking about what we like to do and I said I really like to make my close friends happy by making a special bday card for them. Then he said that his bday is coming soon, it would be OH so wonderful if he had one for his bday. So, I agreed to make a bday card for him without any clue of what card to make as I wasn't really sure what's he into. Then he rubbed it in and asked 'so that means we are close friends now?' " LOL

I was running out of time, so I browse the internet for ideas and I came across this darling where the invisible light bulb suddenly lite up. I can't seem to find the source for it.

I got a video tutorial on how to make a origami shirt from card-making-magic.com at:-
http://www.card-making-magic.com/foldedpapershirttutorial.html
They have really neat stuff there.

So, I tried making the origami shirt, and its really easy. This was what I decided to go for and I told my guy friend that he will definitely a card for his bday, then he replied " I was just joking about the card, all you need to do is belanja me minum. " I told him nope, no drink for u, a card or nothing.

Found a unique enough shirt on facebook which I can make a replica, hence this is what I came out with :)

 Front

Inside - Left

 Inside - Right
The stripes are glued on and drawn, it is not a stripe paper.

Inside - Left & Right combine
The shirt can be opened, I left a message saying that for year 2011, he celebrated his bday in Meeples wearing a similar shirt (YES, I made him come in that shirt :P) with rainbow cupcakes.

In case you were wondering what is 'Meeples', it is a place European Boardgame Cafe where you pay according to your playing hours. It is RM5 per hour, very reasonable. The shop is in Subang Jaya SS15, behind Chatime and Snowflake.
Address : 64-1, Jalan SS15/4D, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor

Card (Birthday) - Apple theme

On 19th November 2011, we gathered at Daves 1 Utama for lunch and to celebrate birthday for Mun Yan (jie jie) and Mann (mei mei). The birthday theme for the day was "Apple", the girls all wore the same apple tee bought from FOS. Since it was apple theme, I decided to make apple birthday cards + photo frame for the birthday girls. This is what I came up with:-

 Mun Yan card - Front

No punchers required to make this paper rose, learnt from the following youtube video:-

Card (Birthday) - The earlier days

I have never been good at blogging and have given up on it for sometime, but recently, just went for a scrapbooking class and fell in love with it. So, I decided to create a blog to keep my art work for now.

Below are a few birthday cards which I made for my close friends, which I took from their facebook, lol. Never thought I would blog about my art work, hence never kept a copy of it. Only have bits of pieces of it with not very good quality, but this will do as a start :).

Front: You are my sunshine, my only sunshine!

Base: Blue (coz it's her all time favourite colour and colour of the sky)
Theme: Sunflower becoz it looks like the "sunshine" which is her nickname.

What materials:
- A blue manila cardboard
- A green colour A4 paper
- Sunflower with lady bird in the middle embellishments
- Sunflower from a wrapping paper
- Alphabet stencil

How to make it:
Step 1: Cut out a sunflower from the wrapping paper and stick the sunflower embellishments around it.
Step 2: Draw the sunflower leaves are colour it.
Step 3: Make grass by randomly drawing the grass on the A4 paper. Fold it few times and cut it together, for making the grass 4 layers, paste the first layer about 1.5cm away from the bottom of the card (top layer will be at the end of the card). Then each layer 0.5cm away from the other.
** Do not glue the grass till the tip of the grass except for first layer.
Step 4: To give it a more reality/ 3D look, use a scissors to roll the tip of the grass outwards.
Step 5: Use the stencil to write the wordings on the card.

Front: Colourful, colourful, colourful........................

Base: White
Theme: Colourful

What materials:
- White art paper
- Wrapping paper with lots of presents
- Sticker lettering
- Heart sequins
- Fake eyes

How to make it:
Step 1: Cut out of the presents, place it where desired. I cut out extra to make layering, not able to see it clearly from the photo. Use pens to draw the ribbons.
Step 2: Stick the lettering then the heart sequins on the lettering.

 Middle: Cute yummy card

Base: Purple (coz I remember her loving purple)
Theme: Decided to go with cute. Found some cute japanese food (ie. bread, tofu, rice in bowl and yakitori)
stickers with cute face.

What materials:
- 2 Purple card making papers
- Stickers
- A bit of cotton

How to make it:
Step 1: Make the pop-up on both ends in the middle, you can get more detail instructions in the below link. (Use relatively solid paper so that the pop-up will stay.)
Step 2: Make the rainbow like Arc.
Step 3: Stick the stickers. Wanted to make it feel like they were really on the rainbow, added some cottons to make the cloud effect.
