Scrapbook Album - Purple Theme

This Scrapbook album is for my good friend's 30th birthday, she was someone close whom I know for the longer time. I knew her from my primary school days, she was very fierce then and was like my big sis during those days, but now, she is more a lady than I am. The older she gets, the prettier she becomes. I remembered that she likes purple colour, so I made this scrapbook with the purple theme in mind. However, some pages did not turn out to be purple, this album took forever to finish as I included to many effects in it.
There were a few sections to this album:

Cover and introduction - Her nickname was dreamy, so I used the word 'dream' on the cover. The purple 3D flowers were hand made (I will show the technique of  making this in a separate post). Add pearls into the words to make it look more elegant. Her name was made using the weaving technique. I spray the cover using some sort of protective spray, it end up coming out giving the bubble effect. I am not sure whether that is how it is suppose to turn out, but it actually turn out really nice.

About her - I used corset picture and ribbon corset technique here. I also added doilies and made Japanese doll bookmarks (will show in a separate post) here.

Family - Here I made a window which can open up, her family tree, a pop-up house and just a page with collage of papers.

Friends - Here I made a lot of pockets, there is also a pop-up with movable mermaids which seems to be the favourite page amongst my friends. Then, there is some messages from friends and she can keep other cards or messages from friends here too, she can also choose to display whichever she likes.

Birthday - I made a month calendar which can't be seen clearly, I will probably show this in a separate post. There is also a tri-fold or shutter card in the 3rd picture below, just go to you tube and search for 'tri-fold or shutter card', there are lots of videos on how to make it. There is also a 3D popup cake here which doesn't look too good after being folded.

Candy Stand

For Christmas gift exchange last year, my was Secret Santa for my lil sis. I know my lil sis likes mash mellow, so I came up with this brilliant idea to make a candy stand for her filled with mash mellows (can substitute with other candies). Since Christmas is a special of the year, I wanted make a special gift for a special person. I used a rectangular styrofoam as the base, wrapped it with wrapping paper then started decorating it with the packet mash mellows using round head pins. Since it looks rather plain, I further decorated it with red ribbons and paper punched butterflies. As a finish step, I added lollipops on the top.

Balloon Stand Man

My best friend had a baby party when she was back and made a colourful balloon stand man which I thought was really awesome. She told me is was really easy to make, you only need a stand (she used a stand lamp) and balloons. What you have to do is have layers of 4 balloon twisted together as shown in the beginning of the video below. Then use twist long balloon any way you want it and place it anywhere in the basic stand man based on your own creativity. Her husband drew the face of the yellow balloon using freehand which I thought looks very symmetrical.

Scrapbook (Star Pop-Up Book) - Newborn Baby Boy Graphic 45 Little Darlings

I was browsing the internet on DIY craft projects and came across this nutcracker star pop-up book, I found the concept interesting because you can close it up for keeping and open it up as a display. I did not find any instructions on the internet on how to make it then, but it was definitely my inspiration for my next DIY project. The link to the project is http://stampenstein.blogspot.com/2012/10/graphic-45-canvas.html and the end product looks link this:-

Christmas star pop-up book

As my best friend from UK was coming back for Chinese New Year which was sometime in February, I decided to make this for her since it would be convenient for her to carry it back and she could display it when she reaches back to UK. My project is using the graphic 45 "Little Darlings" line which I simply adore. My project looks like this:-

Front (The process) - From Engagement, to wedding, to getting pregnant.......I didn't include a picture of the back as it is just a plain blue cardboard page.

 In its book form

Arrival of newborn baby boy

 The whole family

Baby Owen with Mummy and Daddy

Pictures of baby Owen

Hall of Fame - Pictures can be changed

In its star pop-up display form

Those pages with picture in the middle are movable parts using either brad or 3D buttons so that the picture will not get destroyed when folded into a book,

Scrapbook Album - Little Miss Sunshine

My dearest friend Florence Chooi's nickname is Miss Sunshine, so for her 30th birthday I made this special little miss sunshine scrapbook for her.

Front - The cartoon figure in black and white, printed out on a yellow paper the stuck to a thin card board. I used the hair elastic and made braids for the hair. The Ribbon is made using red polka dot ribbon with the ribbon technique in the next picture, the wire is then tied to the back. I used brads to make the legs movable by placing them on another paper then putting it in between the cartoon figure card board paper and another thick scrapbook paper, using thick foam double sided tape to hold it together.

Ribbon technique

Back - using a yellow thick plastic board cut into a circle.

The whole scrapbook - All the pages with lil miss sunshine are printed out, I only pasted another thick scrapbook pattern paper on the back then stick all the photos. The layout of this scrapbook with all the lil miss sunshine photos are in a powerpoint and still available in my computer for sharing. Not sure where I can save it to share, so till I found out.
